Scientists create black hole in laboratory

Black Hole In Big Apple

Black Hole graphic courtesy of Drake University

Scientists used a particle accelerator at Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, New York, to shoot two beams of gold nuclei at each other at the speed of light.

The intense heat of the collision breaks down the nuclei into quarks and gluons, the most basic building blocks of all normal matter.

These particles then formed a ball of plasma which can be detected because it absorbs jets of particles produced by the collision, so creating a black hole.

  1. In a site I read that nano black hole after creating evaporates rapidly.i.e.it forms then disappears very quickly.May be nano black holes(like some spacial large black hole)have swirl shape and after contacting with any surface or substance they disappear. So I think you can keep or suspend them amid a powerful magnetic field because this swirl turns and has magnetic property. In the same site I read that these nano particles in near distances can change surface of substances,so change worthless matter to useful one.
