Political Correctness, Crypto-fascism and the Death of the Internet

political_correctness_gone_madIronically, the term “Political Correctness” itself is now “Politically Incorrect” … at least according to Wikipedia

Political correctness (adjectivally, politically correct, commonly abbreviated to PC) is a term primarily used as a pejorative to describe language, policies, or measures which are intended not to offend or disadvantage any particular group of people in society; in pejorative usage, those who use the term are generally implying that these policies are excessive.

When the Government begins passing fascist laws but none of the people doing the law-passing actually admit to their secret fascist sympathies, that’s what used to be known as … Crypto-fascism

Cryptofascism is a pejorative term for the secret support for, or admiration of, fascism. The common usage is “cryptofascist“, one who practices this support. The term is used to imply that an individual or group keeps this support or admiration hidden to avoid political persecution or political suicide.

Apparently Facebook’s censorship of Republican, libertarian, Tea Party and Conservative content was not only not embarrassing to them, (10 Times Facebook Censored Conservatives) but today it was announced that Facebook, Twitter, YouTube (thus by extension Google) and Microsoft are all teaming up with the European Union Socialists to “crack down” on so-called “online hate speech”.

These neocrypto-fascists have now cooked up a new set of rules designed to stop “racist, violent and illegal content from going viral”. They have also agreed to review a “majority” of flagged content within 24 hours. They’ll remove it, if necessary.

Political CorrectnessEU LINKS UP WITH TWITTER, TECH FIRMS TO COMBAT HATE SPEECH

BRUSSELS (AP) — The European Union reached an agreement Tuesday with some of the world’s biggest social media firms, including Facebook and Twitter, on ways to combat the spread of hate speech online.

Under the terms of a code of conduct, the firms, which also include YouTube and Microsoft, have committed to “quickly and efficiently” tackle illegal hate speech directed against anyone over issues of race, color, religion, descent or national or ethnic origin. The sites have often been used by terrorist organizations to relay messages and entice hatred against certain individuals or groups.

Among the measures agreed with the EU’s executive arm, the firms have said they will establish internal procedures and staff training to guarantee that a majority of illegal content is assessed and, where necessary, removed within 24 hours. They have also agreed to strengthen their partnerships with civil society organizations who often flag content that promotes incitement to violence and hateful conduct. The European Commission and the firms have also agreed to support civil society organizations to deliver “anti-hate campaigns.”

“The internet is a place for free speech, not hate speech,” said Vera Jourova, the EU commissioner responsible for justice, consumers and gender equality. She added that the code of conduct, which will be regularly reviewed in terms of its scope and its impact, will ensure that public incitement to violence to hatred has “no place online.”

Funny thing, there doesn’t seem to be any mention of who it is that actually gets to do the flagging.

Paul Joseph Watson weighs in: Facebook still Refuses to Remove the “I Want to F**king Kill Donald Trump” Page, despite the EU code of conduct pledge. One can only assume that Facebook considers that page to contain “acceptable speech”. We already know which pages Facebook actually censors, giving one an idea as to the kind of speech that will be flagged and deleted by Mark Zuckerberg’s neocrypto-fascist (would that be “Techno-Fascist”?) team.
